Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) Scheme is flagship programme of Biotechnology Industrial Research and Assistance Council (BIRAC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT). BIG is the largest early stage biotech funding programme in India which supports early stage start-ups, researchers and entrepreneurs. The BIG supports Biotech projects from ideation to proof of concept stage.

To support the ideas which can translate into commercial products/technologies
Funding support in the form of Grant-in-Aid up to Rs. 50 Lakhs.
The scheme provides funding, mentorship, connect with experts, investors, peer to peer learning, specialized trainings & workshops, access to incubation, other supports for ideation to proof of concept.
Individual Entrepreneur, student, researchers, clinicians, faculties, a registered start-up including LLP not older than 5 years from the date of BIG call launch.
Project leader must have completed basic graduation at the time of application submission.
The Project Leader must be a shareholder in the applicant company/LLP.
Indians with Indian passports are eligible to apply for this scheme.
